EdgeTech Sub-bottom profilers.

    There are at least three different Edgetech "Star" systems, each SEG-Y
different from the others.

The GeoStar system is based on a PC, converts to depth, and writes in a format somewhat, but not very, similar to SEG-Y.

There are two Xstar systems; one records 1 trace and the other 2 traces. Unfortunately it is impossible to tell these two systems apart according to the SEG-Y binary headers.

GeoStar The GeoStar data files must be converted to SEG-Y before SIOSEIS can read them. Program gstar2segy creates the SEG-Y file headers, moves things around in the trace header and does byte swapping so the file can be read by process diskin without using "format edgetech". The data are still complex and must go through SIOSEIS process XSTAR.
